The war of extermination in Gaza continues. Death lurks everywhere, all the time. It can be seen on the faces of hundreds of thousands of exhausted, starving and skeletal children. Netanyahu is carrying out ethnic cleansing and European leaders are still pretending to ask themselves whether Israel is or isn’t respecting human rights!
In Ukraine, Putin and Trump are putting on a big show about peace but the war goes on. Kiev is still being bombed. Russian and Ukrainian soldiers continue to die in combat or rot in squalid prisons.
Many other regions of the planet are ravaged by war – the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, Mali, etc. Millions of women and men there are being killed and millions of others displaced. Who can even say when the war began?
And what future is there for mankind when the sound of marching boots is getting louder and we are being dragged into a deeper economic crisis and climate catastrophe?
But for the masters of the world, the most important thing is business as usual. And business is actually getting better! Financial bets are being placed 24/7. More and more parties like Macron’s “Choose France” in Versailles are being held all over the world. The big bourgeoisie does its shopping there and spends billions.
Arnault, Michelin, Bolloré, Musk, Bezos, Zuckerberg have numerous projects that can increase their fortune. And more than enough to wallow in luxury.
When Trump went to the Middle-East, he wasn’t worried about the plight of the Palestinians but about his own businesses. The New York profiteer was more than satisfied: the Trump organization will build a luxury residence in Qatar, a golf course in Dubai, a Trump Tower in Jeddah and the oil monarchies are going to invest billions in his cryptocurrency.
It’s the same everywhere. ArcelorMittal is cutting jobs in France and complaining that it’s no longer profitable to produce steel in Europe. But they’re investing a billion dollars in the Boston Celtics, an American basketball team!
These are the monsters who run the economy! It’s their lackeys, the heads of state, who claim to know what’s right and what’s wrong, who choose peace or war. This is unacceptable! Their capitalist system depends on exploitation and making the rich richer and is an insult to human dignity and intelligence.
For a long time now, humanity has had the resources to rid the world of poverty. On a global scale, the means exist for people to live decently without the fear of being in need. The continual progress of technology and knowledge should allow everyone to thrive with no need for exploitation or domination.
The U.S. alone could solve a number of the world’s problems. With the best laboratories on the planet, they have an unrivalled capacity for innovation and scientific research. Instead, the richest capitalist class in the world is having an orgy of wealth. It worships individual accumulation of wealth and the law of the strongest.
Under pressure from Trump, this is stirring up economic warfare. More boastful than ever, the gang leader in the White House announced that a “golden dome” is to be built, an anti-missile shield inspired by Israel’s “iron dome”. 600 or 700 billion dollars – more than it would take to eradicate malnutrition and many deadly illnesses in the world – will be used to send into orbit what it would take to blow up the planet several times over.
As long as we leave power in the hands of the capitalist class, the reactionary, warlike and barbaric evolution of society will continue. Capitalism has never been and will never be humane but senile capitalism is more and more barbaric.
For society to progress once more, we must aim to overthrow the bourgeoisie and the imperialist order. This is why the workers must revive revolutionary communist ideas.
In 1789, peasants and townspeople found the courage, the strength and the organization to demand accountability from the class of parasites living in Versailles and then overthrow them.
They built a new society that abolished the privileges of birth. Now we need to rid ourselves of the privileges of money. And only a revolution, led this time by the working class, can impose this.
