From "stop the boats" to histerical manhunt - the politicians are grasping at straws

So, after the hysterical "manhunt" for Hadush Kebatu, who Justice Secretary Lammy referred to as a "dangerous criminal at large", and Home Secretary Mahmood called a "vile sex offender", he was easily found... and they've already deported him.

When his mistaken release was reported, the hype was such that it could only have encouraged a lynch mob. And in fact such a mob duly reappeared outside at the Bell Hotel in Epping, right on cue.

Yet Hadush was hardly the danger to public safety that the Westminster lynch mob made out. After his release, he kept going back to the prison's reception to ask where he was meant to go...

But OTT government/media-generated hype is now the order of the day, when it comes to the issue of "the boats" and foreign migrants. Who needs Farage or Robinson, when there's a Starmer, Mahmood or Lammy to promote xenophobia?

As if this was the public's main preoccupation! No doubt the government imagines that by joining a populist chorus which scapegoats easy targets like migrants, it'll draw attention away from the broken economic system, limping from one crisis to the next; from the broken NHS, the overpriced (privatised) energy "market", the (privatised) water companies which can't fix their pipes and the (privatised) postal service which has to be fined for not delivering letters on time...

Anything, but admit that the root cause of this universal failure is their "precious" economic system based on private profit, which they all - Labour, Tory, Reform, Green... etc., commit themselves to defend tooth and nail until... when? Doomsday? Yes, anything but admit that they cannot fix it!

Not one of the mainstream political parties has any sensible answers. What's more, a substantial number among the voting "public" knows this. The record abstention at every election says it all, in a context of Labour and Tory alternating in power for ~ 100 years!

Neither is it any surprise that a "new" party like Reform led by millionaire Farage, leads the polls today. Of course this pint-sized Trump tribute act, with his big mouth, would love to rule the Westminster roost - and bad luck to him! Not he, nor anyone else, will ever revive this decaying system.

Indeed, it's the historical task of the working class organised as a revolutionary force, to "fix" society - that is, eliminate the capitalist economy altogether, and along with it, the class system. In that future world, we'll all be migrants - because finally there'll be free movement anywhere and everywhere, for all.

Mass killing from Gaza to El Fasher: in whose interests?

Trump's so-called "beautiful peace in the Middle East", hasn't prevented the Israeli army from letting loose against the Palestinians of Gaza, on many separate occasions, under the pretext that Hamas has been breaking the 10 October "cease-fire".

When asked about the latest multiple air strikes which massacred 104 civilians, including 46 children, Trump wasn't in the least bothered. "If they [Hamas] don't behave themselves they will be killed, if they are good they will be happy and if they are not good they will be terminated... they know that".

Yes, these are the words coming out of the mouth of the man who heads the most powerful state in the world - albeit a state in decay, like the rest of the capitalist world, which might explain a few things! But even so, he is a mere representative of US capital... in other words, the biggest global businesses.

Backing Netanyahu wasn't ever about overcoming Hamas nor destroying Gaza. This may have been the ultra-Zionists' objective, but it wasn't Trump's, i.e., the aim of the American capitalist class. For them it was an opportunity to restore the US as regional power, using the IDF as a means; signalling to the whole Middle East that the sheriff was back in town.

So what of the civil war in Sudan? And the latest horrific slaughter, involving the siege of El Fasher by the Rapid Support Force? The scenes are impossible to digest: RSF fighters executing all the patients and staff in the hospital; shooting hundreds as they flee. The total estimated dead in this war, which began in 2023, is over 150,000, not counting the dead of El Fasher.

But the fighting could never continue if it wasn't being fuelled, armed and funded by Turks, Egyptians, Emiratis and Saudis, as intermediaries for US, EU, and British interests. Turkey, which just bought £8 billions' worth of Typhoon fighter jets, missiles and other weapons from British companies, has a deal to supply the Sudanese Armed Forces, for instance. And all of these war-facilitators are after the gold, copper, iron, uranium, oil and rare earths under Sudanese soil.

It is for this - the profits of the capitalist class, West and East - that Sudan's population and the entrapped people of Gaza must starve and die. Can there be a more profound reason to force an end to this lethal profit system, in the interests of the whole of humanity?
